Health & Well Being

Mandela Day Wellness Program:

Our Mandela Day wellness program at St. Philomena’s Children’s Home was a huge success. Sewa International SA organized a comprehensive wellness program at St. Philomena’s Children’s Home, focusing on holistic health and well-being. We also painted 8 rooms.

We also had the privilege of providing nutritious and hearty meals at St. Thomas Children’s Home, ensuring everyone had a day filled with love and care.

Health Check-Ups and Eye Tests: 3 Optometrists conducted eye tests, identifying five children and one adult needing glasses, which Sewa International SA provided free of charge.

Career Talks and Counseling: It started with a power packed life coaching session where girls learnt about empowerment and personal development. 2 Guests speakers gave career talks, inspiring the girls with stories of professional growth and encouraging them to pursue various career paths.

Nutritional Support: Nutritious food items, including fruits and vegetables, were distributed to St. Philomena’s and St. Thomas Children’s Home, ensuring balanced meals for the children.

Physical and Mental Wellness Activities: Interactive activities, including Yog Session and Laughing session, promoted physical fitness and mental health among the children.

Adventure for SEWA

Adventure4Sewa is a programme operated by Sewa International South Africa, through which we organise and host engaging physical indoor and outdoor events. These events are planned and executed by our dedicated team of volunteers and aim to:

  • Deliver a challenging, fun, and unique experience for the public.
  • Create awareness about our organisation and its humanitarian activities.
  • Raise funds to support Sewa’s ongoing community projects.

Our events are open to everyone, and each one is organised entirely by the volunteers of Sewa International SA and the Adventure4Sewa team. They provide participants with an opportunity to take on personal challenges- both physically and mentally, while contributing to meaningful causes.

In 2025, we proudly launched our Johannesburg chapter, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive, with growing participation and enthusiasm from the community.

Our Sunday Hikes continue to bring people together for fitness, friendship, and purpose. From January to date, we’ve successfully completed six walks and hikes,  each one reminding us that adventure becomes even more rewarding when it’s done in the spirit of Sewa.

The Hike4Humanity/Ride4Humanity

Join the Adventure4Sewa program and fulfill a personal dream through hikes, cycling, and running—all while supporting charitable causes. The primary goal of Hike4Humanity is to raise funds for crucial community projects, particularly the Sponsor a Child (SAC) program. This program provides essential resources to underprivileged children, empowering them to reach their full potential. By participating in Hike4Humanity, individuals not only challenge themselves physically but also contribute to a meaningful cause. This event fosters a sense of camaraderie and inspires participants to make a positive impact on society.

Sponsor My Steps Initiative – The Sponsor My Steps Initiative under Hike4Humanity/Ride4Humanity exceeded expectations this year. We witnessed phenomenal success this year, generating R206,612.00, a substantial increase from last year’s R139,000. The rise in contributions reflects a growing community of donors and sponsors who believe in our mission. These funds are dedicated to supporting SAC (Sewa Assistance for Children) and other humanitarian projects.
